What gas prices look like this week in Ontario

After a brief drop earlier this week, gas prices are climbing once again in Ontario.

GasWizard.ca reports that regular fuel prices rose by three cents per litre over the weekend, bringing prices to approximately 183.9 cents per litre.

Premium fuel also climbed by three cents to 213.9 cents per litre, while diesel prices increased by two cents to 202.9 cents per litre.

These prices could remain unchanged through at least May 27.

Earlier this week, gas prices briefly dropped across southern Ontario. On May 22, En-Pro reported that prices had fallen by eight cents, with another four-cent decrease expected the following day, bringing average prices to around 179.9 cents per litre across much of the GTA and southern Ontario.

The recent prices remain below the spike seen earlier this month. On May 6, regular fuel prices jumped by seven cents in a single day to reach 195.9 cents per litre in many parts of southern Ontario, according to GasWizard.ca, while premium fuel climbed to 225.9 cents per litre.

At the time, Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, said falling oil prices could bring additional relief at the pumps, although he warned fuel prices would likely remain elevated due to ongoing oil supply concerns.

Gas prices continue to fluctuate due to a combination of global conflicts impacting oil supplies, shifting refinery capacities and heavy reliance on globally traded commodities.
