While there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy, an early look at August suggests southern Ontario could see a mix of warm temperatures, sunshine and several rounds of thunderstorms throughout the month.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the month is expected to begin with thunderstorms and warm temperatures between Aug. 1 and 9.
From Aug. 10 to 16, conditions are forecast to turn sunny, with cooler weather expected in eastern Ontario and warmer temperatures in western parts of the province.
Between Aug. 17 and 21, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated as warm weather continues.
The final stretch of the month, from Aug. 22 to 31, could bring more thunderstorms before ending with stormy conditions in the east, sunny skies in the west and cooler temperatures.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac says the average temperature for August is expected to be 20 C, which is about 1 C below seasonal norms in eastern Ontario and 1 C above average in western Ontario.
Total precipitation is forecast to reach 125 millimetres, roughly 70 millimetres above average in the east and 20 millimetres above average in the west.
The long-range outlook continues to suggest summer will be cooler than normal across eastern Canada and warmer in western regions, with above-normal precipitation expected.
