Welland woman charged after man stabbed in face during neighbour dispute: Police

A woman from Welland has been arrested and charged following a stabbing incident at an apartment building in the city this week.

According to Niagara Regional Police, officers were called to a local hospital after a man in his 20s was admitted with a serious stab wound to his face.

Police learned that the man had been involved in an altercation with one of his neighbours in his multi-unit building in the area of Niagara Street and West Main Street.

Subsequent investigation found that the man and one of his neighbours, a woman also in her 20s, were involved in a dispute over various complaints.

Police said the woman confronted the man in a common area of the building on Tuesday (Dec. 7) afternoon and the confrontation resulted in the man being stabbed.

When police attended the apartment building, the woman was arrested and a knife was seized from the scene.

Police arrested 28-year-old Alysha Cyopeck of Welland who has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon Sec 267 (a) CC

Cyopeck was held in custody in order to attend a video bail hearing on December 8, 2021, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
