Freezing temperatures and more snow are on tap this first weekend of 2026 in southern Ontario.
Ontario residents faced frigid cold temperatures on New Year’s Eve and the cold snap is expected to continue into the weekend.
Friday evening will be partly cloudy with a low of -11 C. With the wind chill it could feel like -16 C overnight in Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton, Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
It could feel like -18 C in Durham Region, the weather forecaster noted.
More snow is in the forecast on Saturday afternoon with up to three centimetres in the evening in the GTA, according to the Weather Network.
Mainly cloudy skies are forecast for Saturday with a high of around -4 C and a low of -9 C in the evening, according to Environment Canada.
With the wind chill it could feel like -16 C Saturday morning and -9 C in the evening.
Sunny skies and a high of -2 C are expected on Sunday. The low could drop down to -13 C in the evening. With the wind chill it could feel like -14 C.
More snow is forecast for Monday with temperatures rising into midweek.
