An afternoon-long stand-off at a south-central Oshawa home ended when tactical officers were able to take two suspects into custody who had forcibly confined and assaulted two people over the course of an entire weekend.

The suspects were arrested after confining and torturing a man and a woman at a house near Simcoe St. S. and First Avenue since Friday.

Police got the call at 12;25 p.m. Monday from one of the victims who had managed to escape and Durham Police quickly converged on the area to set up a containment at the residence.

A second victim was eventually rescued from the ordeal but the suspects were not arrested until the evening.

Both victims were unable to leave over the three days and told police they had been assaulted by the suspects. They suffered minor injuries.

Two additional suspects had fled the scene prior to police arrival and are still at large.

James Godfrey, 36, and Jessica Capeskey, 41, of Oshawa are charged with two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of assault and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both were held for bail hearings.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the D/Cst. Dowdle of Central East Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2765.
