Week-long bus detours coming to several Brampton Transit routes

Detours are coming to multiple Brampton Transit bus routes for a full week due to construction projects at a local college.

The detours start on Monday at 7 a.m. on Routes 3/3A McLaughlin, 4/4C Chinguacousy, 11/11A Steeles, 53 Ray Lawson, 104 Chinguacousy​ Express and 511/511C Züm Steeles, Brampton Transit says.

The route changes will last until July 31 at 5 p.m. for construction and internal roadway resurfacing at Sheridan College, the city says.

Here are the changes coming to routes next week:

Sheridan College Terminal Züm Stops – stops #4224 and #4225

  • ​Passengers travelling westbound to board Routes 3/3A McLaughlin, 4/4C Chinguacousy, 11 Steeles, 104 Chinguacousy Express and 511/511C Zum Steeles at the temporary bus stop on Steeles Avenue, east of McLaughlin Road.
  • Passengers travelling eastbound to board Routes 11 Steeles and 511/511C Züm Steeles on Steeles Avenue – stop #1668.

Sheridan College Terminal Conventional Stops – stops #2617 and 2618

  • ​Passengers travelling westbound to board bus stop #1716 Southbound on McLaughlin Road, south of Steeles Avenue to board Route 53 Ray Lawson.
  • Passengers travelling westbound to board Route 53 Ray Lawson, southbound on McLaughlin Road, south of Steeles Avenue – stop #1716.

Northbound McLaughlin Road south of Steeles Avenue – stop #1667

  • ​Passengers travelling eastbound on Route 53 Ray Lawson to board at Steeles Avenue – stop #1668.
  • Passengers travelling northbound on Routes 3/3A McLaughlin to board at the temporary bus stop on Steeles Avenue, east of McLaughlin Road.

More changes to Brampton Transit routes are coming starting in August, including the start of the new Brampton Transit Route 302 Deerhurst, which will replace the Route 29A Williams variant route south of Queen Street.

Brampton Transit says Route 302 Deerhurst will service Deerhurst Drive, Paget Road and Kenview Boulevard with service operating every 25 minutes, and has been designed to support workers’ commuting patterns and improve access to key employment destinations.

Along with the new route, August will bring service changes to over a dozen routes across Brampton.

Here are all the upcoming changes to Brampton Transit routes starting on Aug. 4.

Route Changes

  • 5/5A Bovaird – variant removed from Airport Road and realigned along Castlemore Road to Gore Meadows Community Centre.
  • Route 29A Williams – removed and replaced with new Route 302 Deerhurst.
  • 35 Clarkway – realigned to terminate at Airport Road.

Schedule Changes

Weekday schedules on the following routes have been adjusted to improve service reliability:

  • 511 Züm Steeles.
  • 3/3A McLaughlin.
  • 5/5A Bovaird.
  • 15/15A Bramalea.
  • 26 Mount Pleasant.
  • 27 Robert Parkinson.
  • 29/29A Williams.
  • 35 Clarkway – Saturday and Sunday schedules on the following routes have been adjusted to improve service reliability.
  • 511 Züm Steeles – last weekday westbound trip departing Humber College at 11:50 p.m.
  • 3/3A McLaughlin – first weekday southbound trip departing Sandalwood Loop at 4:03 a.m.
  • 26 Mount Pleasant – last weekday northbound trip departing Mount Pleasant GO at 12:35 a.m.
