A windy storm could put a damper on outdoor plans this weekend in Ontario.

A “strong” storm is in the forecast bringing rain, possibly snow, and winds on Sunday (Dec. 10) in most of the province, according to the Weather Network.

The storm system comes as a “Texas low” is expected to rapidly intensify through southern Ontario’s Great Lakes region on Sunday.

The weather forecaster is predicting “a windy December storm” on Sunday with either heavy snow or rain. Wind gusts of around 50-60 km/h are possible.

Parts of Ontario, particularly the northwest, could have whiteouts.

But before the storm, southern Ontario will get some warmer temperatures this week in southern Ontario, according to Environment Canada.

After some chilly temperatures of 2 C and zero tomorrow (Dec. 6), the weather is expected to warm up to 5 C on Thursday and up to 9 C on Saturday.

Friday is looking like the best day of the week with sunny skies and a high of 8 C.

A chance of rain or flurries is in the forecast for most other days.

On Sunday (Dec. 10), Environment Canada is predicting a chance of rain or flurries with a high of 2 C.
