Warming stations and homeless shelters from Pickering to Oshawa to be busy during storm

With most if not all city services cancelled and/or closed across the region due to the storm, civic officials want residents to know warming stations and homeless shelters are available for those in need.

The Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (1867 Valley Farm Road, Pickering) banquet halls will serve as a designated warming centre until 10 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday. The East Shore Community Centre (910 Liverpool Road, Pickering) will be operating as an overnight shelter from 10 p.m., Friday until, 7 a.m. Saturday.

The Respite Centre (27 Station St. Ajax) will be available from 10 p.m. – 7 a.m. each day from Saturday, December 24 – Monday, December 26. Call (289) 923-2360 should transportation be required.
