Video: Watch as wind knocks over truck on Burlington Skyway

A video captured the exact moment when a gust of wind knocked over a large transport truck on the Burlington Skyway last month.

The clip, which will be aired on the television program Heavy Rescue: 401, shows the scene where the Niagara-bound vehicle nears the crest of the bridge just before noon on Feb. 15.

As the clip indicates, Ontario Ministry of Transportation officials who monitor the route along the QEW, describe wind gusts reaching up to 96 km/h that had been occurring on the bridge that day. Suddenly, the truck topples over, narrowly missing another vehicle that would have been crushed under the impact of the crashing cabin.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident, but traffic was interrupted through the area for hours.

Both government and police officials are continuing to investigate the cause and how it can be prevented in the future.
