A video captured two drivers speeding loudly through an industrial area in Mississauga recently.

The cars were speeding in the area of Laird Road and The Collegeway in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police tell insauga.com.

The Peel Regional Police Safer Roads Team will continue working to stop this dangerous practice, said Deputy Chief Marc Andrews in a tweet on the evening of April 9.

“Street racing on our roadways is incredibly irresponsible behaviour,” said Andrews.

The drivers were intercepted, the vehicles seized and impounded, police said.

The drivers are facing multiple Highway Traffic Act charges.

Street racing or stunt driving comes with an immediate 30-day driver’s licence suspension, and 14-day vehicle impoundment at the roadside (whether it is your vehicle or not), according to the Highway Traffic Act.

Drivers could face a minimum fine of $2,000 and a maximum fine of $10,000, and a jail term of up to six months.

The incident comes as Mississauga is dealing with overnight street racing at malls and industrial areas on a regular basis.
