A recent dashcam video has surfaced on YouTube capturing the deadly crash on Monday night on Highway 401 in Whitby.

The video was reposted by user DJLToronto_DashCam, who claims it was not their footage. The recording is two minutes long, beginning at  8:07 p.m., and roughly aligns with events occurring approximately 15 minutes earlier, when an LCBO store in Bowmanville was robbed.

Nearly 20 seconds into the video, the U-Haul truck is seen speeding in the opposite direction of traffic, barely in the next lane over from the vehicle with the dashcam.

About six seconds later, the first police cruiser speeds by in the same lane as the U-Haul, indicating that they were in pursuit of the vehicle travelling against traffic.

Ten seconds later, three police vehicles (a second apart) speed by. As the video continues, the traffic ahead starts to slow down, including commercial trucks.

Cars also begin to pass on the far left shoulder while unknown metal parts and debris are found in the middle of the lanes.

On the other side of the median, travelling what appears to be westbound and on the right side of traffic, were more police vehicles.

A few seconds later, near the Stevenson Road exit, police vehicles five and six rush by, again on the wrong side of the road.

As the video comes to a close, more police cars travelling westbound with their sirens on can be seen in the distance.

In the aftermath of the crash, three civilian lives were lost.

The Indian Consulate General identified the victims, as a 60-year-old man, his 55-year-old wife, and their grandchild were killed in the head-on collision.

The family, visiting from India, were here to spend time with their grandson. The Consulate expressed heartfelt condolences, promising support to the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, the parents of the baby, a 33-year-old father and 27-year-old mother, survived the crash and were hospitalized.

The mother is being treated for serious injuries, while the father sustained minor injuries.

Police have not provided updates on the condition of the survivors.

In addition, the 21-year-old driver of the U-Haul also died and the passenger, a 38-year-old, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The investigations are ongoing.
