Peel Regional Police are advising motorists in the area of potential traffic delays today, due to planned demonstrations in the area of Mississauga.

On Saturday (Oct. 14) around 3:04 p.m., police informed followers on X (formerly Twitter) that drivers and public transit may experience service interruptions near Square One.

In a statement on Friday (Oct. 13) Peel police confirmed that they’re aware of several planned demonstrations set to take place in Mississauga.

“Our duty and responsibility remains to maintain public order and ensure the safety of everyone,” police said.

These demonstrations are in response to the ongoing fight between Israel and Hamas.

The camera pans and captures crowds as far down as several streets, who are holding flags, banners and chanting.

A man in traditional clothing can be seen standing on top of a bus shelter, holding a flag of Palestine in one hand and in the other, a green coloured smoke bomb — a type of firework designed to produce a large amount of smoke upon ignition.

The crowds can be heard chanting, “Free Palestine.”

Police are requesting the public to use alternate routes for the time being.
