Ice stuck to a transport truck flew off the vehicle and smashed into another truck following behind on Hwy. 401, sending the driver of the second truck to the hospital.
According to the OPP, the first truck was driving on Hwy. 401 and approaching the Courtice Rd. exit when the ice chunk detached from the vehicle. The chunk flew through the air into the truck behind.
It then went right through the following truck’s windshield and injured the trucker. Police have not commented on the extent of his injuries.
Responding officers have the truck with the shattered windshield pulled over. It is currently blocking the on-ramp from Hwy 418.
