Victoria Day May 20 in Brampton: What’s Open and Closed

Get ready for another long weekend in Brampton with the Victoria Day holiday Monday falling on May 20 this year.

And while most stores will be closed, there are still shops and restaurants open in Brampton for you to take in while enjoying a break from the daily grind.

A reminder that all personal fireworks are banned in Brampton even on Victoria Day with fines of up 10 $100,000 for anyone caught buying, using or selling fireworks in the city.

Here’s a list of what’s open and what’s closed on Victoria Day 2024 in Brampton:


Closed:

  • All major grocery stores
  • Shoppers World
  • Brampton City Hall
  • Brampton Library branches
  • Banks
  • Brampton Animal Shelter
  • Community Centres
  • LCBO locations
  • Service Ontario
  • Canada Post offices
  • Brampton On Stage Box Office
  • Brampton Transit facilities, including Lost and Found

Most Region of Peel services are closed, including:

  • Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA)
  • Access Peel Counters
  • Dental Services Contact Centre
  • Early Years and Child Care Services
  • Family Health Call Centre
  • Healthy Sexuality Clinics
  • COVID-19 vaccine clinics
  • Needle Exchange Program
  • Ontario Works
  • Garbage collection scheduled for Monday will be picked up one day later
  • TransHelp office

Open:

  • Bramalea City Centre (11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., individual store hours may vary)
  • All essential city services including Brampton Fire & Emergency Services
  • Some restaurants and bars will be open for dine-in, takeout or delivery, but call ahead to be sure
  • Brampton Recreation Centres will be operating at a reduced schedule (check online to be sure)
  • Most Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall locations
  • Some smaller grocery stores
  • Select Beer Store locations (198 Queen St. E., 180 Sandalwood Pkwy. and 80 Peel Centre Dr.)

Transit:

  • Brampton Transit will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule
  • Service counters are closed
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule
