Vehicle stolen in Oakville located by police in Mississauga, multiple charges laid

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested a male in relation to the theft of a vehicle in Oakville.

According to police, on Jan. 12, 2023, the victim met with a male in order to sell his 2018 Range Rover.

Police say the two met in the area of Belyea St. and Nelson St. at approximately 4:15 p.m. and the suspect entered the driver’s seat of the vehicle and fled the area.

According to police, uniform officers attended and attempted to stop the stolen vehicle as it fled eastbound on the Queen Elizabeth Way near Mississauga Rd.

Officers were not able to stop the vehicle. However, the stolen vehicle was equipped with an aftermarket GPS device and was located a short time later at a Petro Canada parking lot in Mississauga.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. the suspect was observed by police exiting the stolen vehicle. Police say he was arrested without incident.

Calvin Peacock, a 38-year-old of no fixed address has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, flight from police, fail to comply with release order, final to comply with probation, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl, possession of automobile master key (7 counts), possession of break in instruments, carry concealed weapon, drive while prohibited (2 counts) and drive while under suspension (2 counts).

Peacock has been held in custody pending a bail hearing, according to police.

A search of the suspect and vehicle lead to the seizure of approximately six grams of fentanyl, a stolen licence plate, seven blank automobile master keys and a large hunting knife.
