Vehicle linked to Ontario murder found in Quebec but suspects still on the run

Investigators say they’ve recovered the vehicle being used by two suspects wanted on Canada-wide warrants for a murder in Niagara Falls.

The killing happened on July 16 shortly before 9 p.m. when the Niagara Regional Police Service says officers were called to a home on Thorold Stone Road near Dorchester Road for reports of a shooting.

Police say two suspects came to the home and shot the victim with a handgun. The male victim was rushed to hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services but died of his injuries shortly after.

The victim has been identified as Mitchell Snoddon, 35, of Niagara Falls.

Police say 23-year-old Maroof Bangi and 30-year-old Josta Grace MacNeal are wanted for second-degree murder in the death of Snoddon. The pair are considered armed and dangerous, and police have warned members of the public not to approach them if they are seen.

On Thursday, investigators said a Toyota Camry involved in the investigation was recovered north of Montreal in Saint Eustache, Que. Canada-wide arrest warrants have been issued for Bangi and MacNeal, and no firearms have been found.

Investigators initially said the pair could have been travelling in a black 2021 Mazda CX-5 with Ontario licence plate DDEC 744. Police later said in an update they were searching for a Toyota Camry with Ontario licence plate DFWX808.
