A police officer was struck by a vehicle, and a teen was reportedly shot during a theft call in Toronto overnight.
Toronto Police said officers responded to a call for a theft of a vehicle just after 1 a.m. today in the Donlands Avenue and O’Connor Drive.
Officers fired their guns toward the vehicle, police said.
Police said the vehicle struck an officer and then fled the scene.
The officer was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Officers found the vehicle and the driver, and the driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate the teen driver was shot.
Police said one suspect remains outstanding, but there is no suspect description.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate.
The Special Investigations Unit is the civilian police oversight agency of the province of Ontario, Canada. The SIU is responsible for investigating circumstances involving police that have resulted in a death or serious injury, or if a firearm was discharged at a person.
