Uxbridge impaired driver found sleeping behind the wheel with car running

A woman is facing impaired driving charges after she was found asleep at the wheel, her car still running in a live lane of traffic.
Officers came across the car idling in the middle of the road on April 11 on Uxbridge’s Concession Rd 6. When an officer approached they spotted the driver asleep behind the wheel while the car was running.
The officer woke the woman and talked to her, finding her speech slurred. As the driver was seeming impaired, the officer conducted a breathalyzer test and found her blood-alcohol content was .22, nearly three-times the legal limit of .08.
According to the University of Notre Dame, a BAC this high means the drinker, “Needs assistance in walking; total mental confusion. Dysphoria with nausea and vomiting; possible blackout.”
The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Uxbridge, was charged with impaired driving and driving with a BAC over .08.
A first-time impaired driving offense ensures a driver catches and 90-day license suspension, a seven-day vehicle impoundment and a $550 penalty.

Additional charges earn this penalties and education and treatment program, then a six-month period with an ignition interlock device. Drivers also have to pay to have their license reactivated following their suspension.
