A snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Niagara Falls
  • Welland
  • Southern Niagara Region

Intense lake effect snow squalls will return this evening through tonight.

Local snowfall amounts of 30 to 50 cm and visibilities may be reduced to near zero in heavy snow and local blowing snow.

The snow fall will  be returning this evening through tonight.

The snow squall from Lake Erie will continue to impact the region this evening with heavy snow. The snow squall will move out of the area overnight.

Strong wind gusts have been reported mainly along the Lake Erie shores, which will subside overnight.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Road closures are possible.

If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
