Two victims in their 80s killed in crash, police search for witnesses in Caledon

Police are still urging witnesses to come forward with information about a crash that left a man and woman in their 80s dead in Caledon.

The fatal collision happened around 8:30 p.m. on March 19 when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on Highway 10 near Escarpment Sideroad in Caledon.

Investigators have said a Nissan SUV was travelling on Highway 10 headed northbound when it crossed into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on with another vehicle.

The driver and passenger in the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene, and police now say the victims were an 85-year-old male and an 86-year-old female from Amaranth, approximately 43 kilometres northwest of Caledon.

Police say the driver of the second vehicle was rushed to hospital and suffered serious injuries in the crash, but was later upgraded to stable condition.

The investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing and police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward with information.
