Two Montreal men arrested in Whitby hotel on kidnapping, robbery charges

Two men from Montreal were arrested in a Whitby hotel yesterday as part of a kidnapping investigation.

Police allege the victim had been kidnapped at knifepoint from his Toronto condo on January 29. The OPP informed Toronto Police they found the victim later that day in Port Hope, and TPS launched an investigation.

Investigator say the man was forcibly confined to his car, and forced to drive eastbound out of the GTA. The victim was able to flee during a stop in Port Hope, and his assailants took off in his car.

The victim’s car was found abandoned in Toronto on February 3.

The two suspects were later found in a Whitby hotel room on March 10. A search warrant was executed on the room and the pair was arrested that day.

Jean Emmanuel Israel, 20, and Shaem St. Lot Latortue, 18, both of Montreal are charged with; weapons dangerous, robbery with a weapon, forcible confinement (in condo), assault with a weapon, kidnapping, forcible confinement (in car), theft over $5000, unlawfully purchase auto master key, possession of break-in instruments
