Two people from Oshawa face numerous charges after a fail-to-remain in the city’s north end yesterday afternoon, with one later catching criminal charges for historic LCBO thefts.

Police were called to Oshawa’s Northbrook Street and Taunton Road area around 1:30 p.m. March 8 for reports of a suspected drunk driver.

Further investigation found the car, a blue Kia, was in the midst of fleeing a fail-to-remain collision, and had been stolen from Oshawa earlier that day.

The vehicle’s two occupants, a man and a woman, ran from the car on foot but uniformed officers later caught and arrested the pair.

Yet further investigation led officers to charge the woman with four separate thefts from LCBO in Oshawa back from October 2021.

Shawn Dupuis, 49 of Oshawa is charged with: possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, failure to remain, and two counts of driving while under suspension.

Shanice Johnson, 28 of Oshawa is charged with: four counts of theft under $5,000, failure to comply with probation and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
