Two from Hamilton charged with 1st degree murder in fatal restaurant shooting

Two men are charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Ali Ghorbaniy, 25, from Hamilton at Raoabe Restaurant, Lounge and Bar on Upper Ottawa Street.

Police arrested and charged two Hamilton men with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting that killed Ali Ghorbaniy last Sunday (Nov. 14).

The 25-year-old was shot multiple times at Raoabe Restaurant, Lounge and Bar on Upper Ottawa Street on at 2:20 a.m.

One male was arrested in Vaughan while the other was arrested in Niagara Falls.

“Multiple units within the Hamilton Police Service played a vital role in the safe arrest of these individuals,” said Hamilton Police Service (HPS) in a media release.

Karzan Kakamad, 26, and Jagar Hasan, 27, will answer to the charges.

“Hamilton Police wish to thank the members of the public for their assistance in helping to identify the persons responsible for this brazen act of violence,” said HPS.

Police indicated there was a large number of patrons inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting and encouraged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
