Two drunk drivers pulled off Scugog roads in as many days, one from Oshawa

Two drunk driver were pulled off Scugog roads in as many days last week with police reporting the pair were heavily inebriated.

The first was stopped April 14 on Old Simcoe Rd in Scugog. Police received a call about an impaired driver. When they caught up to the driver they found she had pulled into a parking lot and fallen out of the car.

A 19-year-old woman from Port Perry was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, driving with a blood-alcohol content over .08 and obstruct peace officer.

The following day, officers responded to a single-car crash out on Davis Dr. When officers arrived the found the driver slurring word and unsteady on their feet.

A 46-year-old woman from Oshawa is driving while impaired and, driving with a blood-alcohol content over .08.

A first-time impaired driving offense ensures a driver catches and 90-day license suspension, a seven-day vehicle impoundment and a $550 penalty.

Additional charges earn this penalties and education and treatment program, then a six-month period with an ignition interlock device. Drivers also have to pay to have their license reactivated following their suspension.
