A pair of Burlington establishments found a place on the Top 100 Restaurants in Canada for 2021.

The list was compiled based on user reviews at the online reservation/review site OpenTable. The list offers a comprehensive look at the year’s most highly rated dining spots selected from more than 540,000 verified diner reviews from restaurants across the country.

The two Burlington restaurants on the list are Loondocks and Rust.

Loondocks is located in Appleby Village, at Appleby Rd. and New St. and is run by the husband and wife team of Kevin and Brittany Duynstee.

The casual fine dining restaurant offers creative French and Italian inspired cuisine made fresh with mostly local, seasonal Canadian ingredients.

Rust Bistrobar is located at Walkers Line and Upper Middle Rd. and is an intimate, casual cool dining destination open for dinner six days a week.

The innovative dining options include a harvest table for larger gatherings, six-seat chef’s counter and live fire grill.

The cuisine focuses on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, highlighting the season’s best.

“After more than a year of restrictions, diners are eager to experiment and make up for lost time,” said Matt Davis, Country Director, OpenTable Canada. “This user-generated list of Top 100 Restaurants in Canada highlights restaurants that will help guide diners on their culinary adventures.”

OpenTable’s list of the Top 100 Restaurants for 2021 in Canada is generated from diner reviews collected between October 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021. All restaurants with a minimum overall rating and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration.

Qualifying restaurants were then sorted according to an overall score generated by unique data points, such as overall diner rating, user klout, total number of reviews and regional overall rating.
