Two men were arrested yesterday evening in a Whitby Home Depot parking lot after officers saw the pair in a stolen car and the two tried to buy over $5,000 worth of product from the hardware store with a credit card not in their name.

Officers spotted the pair in a stolen car around 8:50 p.m. March 17 at the Garden Street Home Depot. The pair went into the store and tried to buy $5,000 worth of product on a credit card that was not either of their names.

The card declined and the men left the store, only to be scooped up by the DRPS Tactical Support Unit as they exited. Police say they found a small amount of crystal meth on one of the men. DRPS also seized the stolen car.

Alvin Mackey, 34 of Toronto, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000.

Cale Warnock, 36 of No Fixed Address, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and possession of crystal meth.

The pair were both released from custody with conditions.

Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation can call DRPS Cst. Dorman at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2003, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
