Transport truck driver charged in chain reaction crash on Hwy. 401 in Mississauga

A transport truck driver faces charges after a four-vehicle crash on Hwy. 401 seriously injured two people in Mississauga.
The four-vehicle crash in the eastbound express lanes of Hwy. 401 at Hurontario Street sent two people to hospital with serious injuries this morning (Jan. 31).
OPP now say the injuries are non-life threatening.
The collision closed all express lanes around 7 a.m. Traffic was able to get by in the collector lanes.
The crash happened after traffic slowed for a disabled on the right shoulder, OPP say.
Approaching vehicles slowed and a transport truck hit one vehicle causing a chain reaction crash, police say.
The transport truck driver faces careless driving charges.
The resulting collision left a mangled mess across the highway. Cars were crushed.
The clean-up took several hours. OPP say they expected the highway to reopen by noon.
