Brampton Transit riders across the city may need to adjust their routes starting June 29 as the agency rolls out a wide range of service changes that include a discontinued route branch, multiple reroutes, stop removals and schedule adjustments affecting dozens of bus lines.
The changes, which Brampton Transit says are intended to improve reliability, align with ridership demand and reflect operational updates, will impact weekday, weekend and school-special service.
One of the most significant adjustments is on the 505 Züm Bovaird route, where the 505A branch is being removed entirely. The remaining 505 service will operate between Mount Pleasant GO Station and Viscount Station at Pearson Airport.
Several routes will also lose stops or be redirected.
Route 18 Dixie will no longer serve the southern loop east of Dixie Road to Netherhart Road.
On Route 23 Sandalwood, service will be realigned along Sandalwood Parkway between Kennedy Road and Conestoga, with buses no longer serving Heart Lake Terminal.
Route 50/50A Gore Road northbound trips will no longer operate through the Humberline Loop.
Route 51 Hereford is being significantly realigned to provide bi-directional service along Hereford Street and Mississauga Road, but it will no longer serve Brampton Gateway Terminal or Steeles Avenue east of Hereford Street.
Route 58 Financial will also be restructured for bi-directional service along Financial Drive, while Route 60 Mississauga Road will be realigned north of Queen Street to run along Mississauga Road to Bovaird Drive.
Route 29/29A Williams will be extended west along Williams Parkway to serve Elbern Markell Drive.
Brampton Transit will also suspend its 200-series school special routes for the summer, with service set to resume Sept. 8.
In addition to routing changes, weekday schedules will be adjusted on 17 routes to improve reliability. Those include the 501 Züm Queen, 505 Züm Bovaird, 511/511C Züm Steeles, 4/4C Chinguacousy, 8 Centre, 11/11A Steeles, 18 Dixie, 23 Sandalwood, 27 Robert Parkinson, 28/28A Wanless, 29/29A Williams, 30 Airport Road, 50/50A Gore Road, 51 Hereford, 58 Financial, 60 Mississauga Road and 301 Westcreek.
Additional weekday timing adjustments will also affect Route 30 Airport Road service to Caledon, with northbound trips scheduled to arrive at National Logistics Services at 7 a.m., 2:55 p.m. and 10:55 p.m.
On Route 301 Westcreek, a weekday westbound trip has been adjusted to arrive at 201 Westcreek Boulevard at 8:25 a.m.
Weekend riders will also see changes. Saturday schedules will be adjusted on routes including 505 Züm Bovaird, 511 Züm Steeles, 7/7A Kennedy, 11/11A Steeles, 18 Dixie, 23 Sandalwood, 29 Williams, 50/50A Gore Road, 51 Hereford and 60 Mississauga Road.
Sunday service will also be adjusted on the 505 Züm Bovaird, 511 Züm Steeles, 5 Bovaird, 11/11A Steeles, 18 Dixie, 23 Sandalwood, 29 Williams, 50/50A Gore Road, 51 Hereford and 60 Mississauga Road routes.
Brampton Transit is encouraging riders to review updated schedules and route maps before travelling once the changes take effect on June 29.
