Traffic complaint leads to drug charge against Brampton resident

A Brampton resident is facing charges following a traffic complaint in southwestern Ontario.

On the morning of Friday, June 2, OPP’s Essex County detachment received a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle on Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Police arrived at the scene and found the vehicle abandoned on the shoulder of Hwy. 401 westbound, east of Provincial Road.

Officers and K9 units began tracking the missing driver, who was eventually located in the 4000 block of County Road 46 in Tecumseh, Ontario.

25-year-old Jobanjit Singh from Brampton was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) and Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

“The custody of the accused was transferred to Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) where they face outstanding warrants,” said OPP.

Singh is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 28, 2023.
