The Town of Halton Hills has taken an additional step toward removing accessibility barriers through the launch of its third set of digital cards with a free app called MagnusCards™.

MagnusCards™, an app meant for removing accessibility barriers for people with cognitive disabilities, is a library that contains digital guides to popular destinations and activities that combine a method of instruction, visual cues with step-by-step instructions.

The new set is a first of its kind on the app and includes five individual decks that outline several recreation and parks services.

The use of the app provides positive reinforcement and helps guide users through activities and tasks that might make them feel overwhelmed. It can also benefit both the user and the caregiver through the support of experiential learning.

“The addition of our most recent MagnusCards deck is another step toward removing accessibility barriers in Halton Hills,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

“Everyone deserves to enjoy and participate in recreational activities and ‘recreation for all’ is one of our core values and a top priority.”
