Toronto-Durham weapons investigations leads to four arrests, 34 charges

Project Vista leads to multiple arrests

A joint weapons investigation between Durham Regional Police and Toronto Police has resulted in the arrest of three men and a woman and 34 total charges.

Durham Police launched Project Vista in April after two victims were threatened and assaulted with a firearm.

With the help of Toronto Police Gun and Gang Task Force, a suspect was identified and arrested after search warrants were executed at a Toronto home on June 3, with drugs, a prohibited firearm magazine and ammunition seized.

The following day an additional search warrant was executed at a residence in Oshawa where three more people were taken into custody. A loaded firearm, a quantity of drugs (including cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and hydromorphone), drug paraphernalia and cash were located and seized.

Dane Fairclough 32, of Oshawa was charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, two other assault charges, uttering threats, forcible confinement and one gun charge.

Baldwin Oswald Clarke, 35, of Oshawa, was charged with five weapons counts, assault and disobey court order.

Andria Schwab, 42, also of Oshawa, was charged with forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm and five drug trafficking counts.

Junior Ivan McKnight, 55, of Clarington, was charged with assault causing bodily harm and five counts of trafficking in a schedule 1 substance.

All were held for a bail hearing.
