After the Hamilton Tiger-Cats punched their ticket to the 108th Grey Cup, punches were thrown between an Argonauts player and a Tiger-Cats fan at BMO Field in Toronto.

It wouldn’t be a Ticats vs Argos game without fists flying. Usually, it’s player vs player and fan vs fan but in Sunday’s (Dec. 5) East Division Final, it was player vs fan.

After the Hamilton Tiger-Cats punched their ticket to the 108th Grey Cup, punches were thrown between an Argonauts player and a Tiger-Cats fan at BMO Field in Toronto.

In a video posted to Twitter, several Toronto Argonaut players can be seen climbing into the stands to confront Ticats fans after Hamilton’s 27-19 come-from-behind win.

A fan wearing black and gold Ticats gear can be seen pushing Argos defensive back Chris Edwards before Edwards throws a haymaker at the fan, who then throws a punch of his own.

Eventually, security can be seen subduing the fan before Edwards’ teammates rush to his defence.

Toronto Police say they are investigating the incident.

“At the end of the game, two men allegedly jumped a barricade and were attempting to fight with players,” Toronto Police Services said. “Officers and security quickly intervened and both men are alleged to have been assaultive with staff and police. As a result, both were trespassed from BMO Field and Exhibition Place.”

A CFL spokesperson said the league is aware of the incident and is reviewing it.

The incident received a lot of attention online. Even TMZ got a hold of the story.
