LATEST UPDATE 12:19 p.m. : Environment Canada says meteorologists are continuing to track the dangerous storm, which may be producing a tornado. The agency warns this remains a life-threatening situation, with the potential for damaging winds, large hail and torrential rainfall. Residents in the warning area are urged to remain in shelter and monitor for further updates as the storm moves through the region.
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Halton Hills, Milton and Brampton as a dangerous storm capable of producing damaging winds, torrential rain and even a tornado moves across southern Ontario.
Meteorologists say the thunderstorm is currently located over Halton Hills and is moving east at 40 km/h.
The storm is capable of producing wind gusts of up to 90 km/h, 15 to 30 mm of heavy rainfall, and a risk of tornadoes.

Communities directly in the storm’s path include Halton Hills, Milton and Brampton. While Mississauga, Toronto and other nearby GTA communities are not currently included in the warning area, residents should continue to monitor weather conditions as storms can change direction or intensify quickly.
Environment Canada warns that the storm could cause localized power outages as strong winds bring down tree branches and power lines. Heavy rainfall may also lead to flash flooding, water pooling on roads and significantly reduced visibility for drivers.
Residents are urged to take immediate cover if threatening weather approaches. If you are outdoors, seek shelter in a sturdy building and protect yourself from flying debris.
Emergency Management Ontario is also advising residents to take cover immediately if severe weather develops.
Environment Canada notes that severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes, and people in the warning area should remain alert and be prepared to act quickly if a tornado warning is issued.
The weather agency is urging residents to continue monitoring the latest forecasts and weather alerts as the storm moves east across southern Ontario.
