A new list looks at the top trending travel destinations and the lowest prices for Canadians in 2026.
As Canadians brace for a long and possibly colder-than-normal winter, a warm-weather getaway could provide some relief.
Travel search engine Kayak just released its report on the latest trends for the new year.
Kayak said many Canadians will travel locally in 2026, with domestic flight interest up 12 per cent for 2026 compared to 2025.
“We’re also seeing that while overall interest in rental cars is down 4 per cent, it’s up 16 per cent domestically,” Kayak said in the report.
But European travel is the number one trending region for Canadians, the report found. There is a 24 per cent increase in flight interest, including year-over-year increases to Berlin (228 per cent), Milan (107 per cent) and Zurich (100 per cent).
The Caribbean follows close behind Europe with a 21 per cent increase in flight searches. Meanwhile, flight searches to the South Pacific are up 16 per cent.

Those looking for a deal may choose Asia, which is seeing the biggest decrease in airfare, down 10 per cent. Many Asian destinations are more affordable than in past years.

Those on a budget can find many flights — both domestic and international — for under $1,000.
