Top ten national ranking, #1 seed in Ontario for unbeaten-in-ten Oshawa Generals

The remarkable run of the Oshawa Generals has caught the eye of junior hockey pundits with the team – now on a ten-game winning streak – rising to the top spot in this week’s Ontario Hockey League Power Rankings and a #10 seed in the nation.
The Generals’ ranking in the weekly Canadian Hockey League top ten is the club’s first foray this year into the upper echelons of junior hockey in Canada. The ten-game win streak is the longest active winning streak in the CHL.
Prince George Cougars (47-15-4) of the Western Hockey League maintained their #1 seed in the CHL rankings for the second week in a row with a point in 17 straight games. The London Knights of the OHL (48-14-3), who Oshawa has leaped past in the Ontario rankings, is placed second with three wins in three outings last week.
Fellow OHL team Saginaw Sprit (46-16-2), who will host this year’s Memorial Cup, fell two spots to fifth.
Oshawa (38-19-9) not only find themselves in the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the first time this season, but they also sit atop the OHL’s Eastern Conference standings for the first time and earned their debut at #1 in the Ontario league’s Power Rankings as the regular season enters its final week.
Last week the Generals scored wins against Mississauga (2-1 OT), Sudbury (8-5) and Sarnia (7-2). Over their last 10 games and victories, 2024 draft prospect Beckett Sennecke has collected points in nine of those contests, including six multi-point games. Meanwhile, Minnesota Wild prospect Rasmus Kumpulainen, who signed his entry-level deal with the NHL club Monday, has points in nine of his last 10 games and he’s riding an eight-game point streak. Colorado Avalanche first-rounder Calum Ritchie has a point in 10 straight contests while New York Rangers prospect Dylan Roobroeck is on a nine-game point streak with goals in seven of his last eight.
