Top 5 Buffets in Brampton

Published February 25, 2017 at 5:40 am

The world of buffets is not what it once was and the city of Brampton is a prime place to see the evolution of the buffet.

Before, going to a buffet meant stuffing yourself with Chinese or North American food and rolling yourself out the front door. To be fair, going to a buffet still requires serious preparation like dressing accordingly (track or yoga pants are best), planning small meals throughout the day and making sure to not do anything strenuous after eating–but the offerings are a little more refined.

Now, Brampton has enough buffets to give your taste buds a trip around the world.

Here are the Top 5 buffets you should check out.

5) Bombay Palace

This place is an underdog compared to its competitors but the food tastes so whole and homemade. Each table gets its own basket of naan. Whatever you do GET THE GARLIC NAAN. It is the best naan out of all the restaurants on this list and if you have some leftover you can take it home. This naan is the new Red Lobster biscuit. Bombay Palace is a small buffet that tucked away inside of a banquet hall but they have all the go-to’s for Indian comfort food like butter chicken, curry lamb, chicken tikka, masala everything and lots of veggies and lentils. Dessert is also small but has some sweets that I’ve never heard of. Gulab jamun, deep fried milk dumpling in rose water syrup, and kheer, rice pudding that’s cooked with nuts and dried fruit and cooled, were just as delicious and comforting as the rest of the buffet. And the staff were the cherry on top. They made an enjoyable experience even more enjoyable.

4) Brars Grand Buffet

Here’s another pleasant and wide variety of flavourful food for the vegetarian in you (no meat here). Brars is unique because it also has a bakery. So as soon as you step inside the restaurant there is nothing but food. The sweets look amazing and it kind of makes you want to skip the main course altogether. But don’t do that. Brars has a wonderful variety of Indian food that’s healthy and that’s also comforting. You can’t turn away when you see a grand, circular hot plate with curried chickpeas surrounded by samosas. And there is everything you could want when you’re craving Indian food, whether you grew up on it or are new to it. If you have room for dessert the sweets are also almost exclusively cultural except for the ice cream. This is a great place to experiment eating Indian food. However, don’t be afraid to ask what is available because the food descriptions on the glass are a little difficult to read.

3) Spoonful

This ranks as the most trendy looking buffets. The purple and yellow decor is playful and makes it more exciting to eat. Eating here is an experience all on its own. There’s a whole assortment of Asian foods like sushi, noodles, spring rolls, meats and the best station ever: make your own pad Thai. The food arrangement gets even cooler at dessert with their chocolate fountain, rows upon rows of sweets and a Wheel of Fortune looking rotator of ice cream. Have fun eating here and you can check their website for birthday specials that don’t just apply to the exact day of your birth.

2) Wok of Fame

Whether you like typical Chinese takeout food, sushi, dim sum or you’re just up for anything, Wok of Fame can check off all your taste boxes. Many pieces of food are made fresh and out in the open, like their sushi (they even have their own Wok of Fame roll which is very tasty). The restaurant’s selling point is that you can create dishes for staff to cook or grill to your exact liking. Once you hit dessert, things get stressful because there are so many options to choose from. I counted 13 types of ice cream! We highly recommend that you save room for green tea and mango ice cream as well as coconut or mango pudding. And think of me when you have a cream puff. I do wish they had an unlimited tea station though.

1) Tandoori Flame

Tandoori Flame is one of the most beautiful buffet restaurants I’ve ever seen. My jaw dropped when I opened the door and was surrounded by clean, bright and modern Indian decor. Then the food is impeccably flavourful and the colours were so appetizing. Once you taste a little bit of everything, you get to see how there are unique tastes to go with every type of food. When you’re ready for dessert, the mango soft serve is AMAZING. Don’t forget the sprinkles! All in all, everything about this place is very classy. You have to go and see for yourself.
