Three people are in hospital after a car crash in Pickering, two of whom are in critical condition.

Two cars collided near Concession Rd. 9 and Brock Rd. at around 9 a.m. on March. 7. The area is north of the city proper, just east of the community of Claremont.

A red Chevrolet cube van and a BMW 35D entered the intersection at the same time and crashed into each other, Durham Regional Police say.

A passenger in the van was ejected from the vehicle, though the driver remained inside. One of the men was flown to a Toronto trauma centre in an Ornge air ambulance. The other was transported in a land ambulance to the same. Both remain in critical condition

When fire crews arrived, they had to extract a 35-year-old woman from the BMW. She was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Police Collision Investigation Unit locked the scene down for several hours, though it has since reopened. Anyone with information can call police at 905-579-1520 ext. 5231. or Crime Stoppers at
