If you love the holidays, you might be happy to hear that a few decidedly festive events are coming to Mississauga this weekend.

While you’ve probably heard that the city is hosting its annual Light up the Square tree lighting celebration on Nov. 23, you might not realize that the Streetsville BIA is hosting three back-to-back Christmas events on Nov. 22, 23 and 24.

On Friday, Nov. 22, the BIA will kick off its fourth annual Christmas in the Village festival.

At 6:00 pm, residents can check out a traditional tree lighting ceremony in the village square and visit with Santa.

The BIA says there will be live music all evening by Cat Bernardi and a performance by Alessia Chole.

Guests who want to enjoy some festive libations can stop by the Moosehead beer tent for a warm cider, beer, or a glass of Streetsville’s famous Mulled Wine.

People in the mood for a little old-world romance will be able to take a scenic ride through the village with a horse and carriage ride (provided by the Streetsville Lions), and anyone who wants to get their shopping done a little early can check out the European-inspired Christmas Market.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the festivities will continue, so attendees can do some shopping at the market, enjoy a horse and carriage ride, listen to live music and just enjoy Queen Street’s winter wonderland transformation.

The BIA says there will be tons of family activities, ice activities, curling, interactive children’s art and selfies with Santa.

This year, the Christmas Market will remain open an additional day, so guests can do some shopping during the Santa Claus Parade on Sunday, November 24 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Drivers should note that some roads will be closed as a result of the festivities.
