Three people from Toronto were arrested in Port Perry after a traffic stop uncovered a loaded pistol.

Officers with the North Division pulled a car over near Hwy. 7A and Scugog St. shortly before 3 a.m. on March 29, police say. They pulled the vehicle over due to a perceived but unspecified Highway Traffic Act violation.

When the officers had the car on the side of the road they removed the driver and two passengers to search the car. Inside they claim to have found a loaded pistol and cannabis inside the car.

Tyrese Williams, 22, of Toronto, was arrested for nine offences, including possession of a loaded firearm, occupying a car with a firearm and possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling.

Meanwhile, the two passengers, Mandy Faudar, 21 and Xavia Kondel, 23, also from Toronto, were each charged with five gun-related offences.

All three remain in custody until a bail hearing.

Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation can call the Gun and Gang Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5800, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
