Not too long after the cold conditions and winter storm of the past few days, we’re in for a big swing in temperatures as the upcoming week is expected to be much warmer.

The current forecast expects temperatures to start off cold this week and quickly ramp up, getting as high as 8 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 30-31).

That would be a roughly 30 C swing from Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), which saw temperatures hovering around -24 C with the wind chill.

Despite the sudden warmth, we won’t see clear skies — regular rain is expected from Wednesday evening and continuing until Saturday.

Weather Network meteorologists expect the warmer temperatures to continue during the first week of January, potentially getting into the double digits.

However, more seasonal temperatures will likely return for mid and late January.
