One of Mississauga’s newest millionaires has the lottery to thank for his newfound wealth.
Kristofferson Buenaseda joined the local millionaires’ club after he won a Lotto 6/49 prize worth $1 million in the Gold Ball Draw this past Nov. 19, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said in a news release on Thursday.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kitchen Food Fair, on Woodbine Avenue in Markham.
While the majority of big lottery winners are happy to provide a few comments to OLG officials for publication, not all choose to do so.
Buenaseda falls into the latter group — and that’s OK, say lottery officials in charge of running the various lottery games and draws. Not every winner of a big cash prize has something to say.
The lucky Mississauga ticket holder had his photo published, as lottery rules stipulate, and then went quietly on his way to make plans for his financial future.
While most big winners do choose to offer public comments and reaction upon claiming their giant cheque, they’re not mandated to do so. They’re only bound by lottery rules to either have their photo taken by OLG officials or supply a photo themselves for publication.
