With the 108th Grey Cup a little more than a week away, the lineup for the halftime show just saw some pretty big talent added.
Joining Hamilton’s own, The Arkells, for the show will be American folk-rock group, The Lumineers.
Both bands made the announcement on Thursday (Dec. 2) via social media posts.

The Arkells hinted that a big Grey Cup announcement was coming down the pipeline and the tease had social media aflutter with the possibilities, most notably that one Ron Kells would be joining the band onstage.
On Wednesday, much to Twitter’s delight, the Colorado-based band tweeted that they were sent messages from someone named Ron Kells — as in “R. Kells” — arguing that the band’s name is too similar to theirs.
Written in all caps, it reads, “My name is Ron Kells and we all have a problem with the name of your band and the rights to it please get a hold of me before the half time show goes on, seriously.”
A follow-up adds, “Y’all have notice THAT YOU DON’T HAVE PERMISSION TO DO THIS UNDER MY NAME.”
Attn @cfl we might have a problem!
(We promise that Arkells are named after Arkell St in Hamilton, ON where the band lived.)

When news came of the impending announcement on Thursday, many social media users mused that it would be in keeping with the band’s humour to welcome Mr. Kells onstage for the event.
The CFL even got in on the joke, suggesting that the big news would be Ron Kells playing the triangle with the group.
Alas, while Kells himself will likely not be putting in an appearance at Hamilton’s Grey Cup event on Dec. 12, The Lumineers, known for songs like ‘Ho Hey’ and ‘Ophelia’, will happily be joining the halftime lineup.
