Santa Claus is coming to town.

Well, the City of Burlington.

Santa Claus will be in the city for the 53rd Burlington Santa Claus Parade.

The parade this year is taking place on Dec. 2, starting at 2 p.m., and will include 86 entries featuring community floats, costumed characters, marching bands, and, of course, Santa Claus.

The parade will include crowd favourites, such as the Burlington Teen Tour Band, the Junior Redcoats, Top Hat Marching Orchestra and the Halton Regional Police Service Pipes and Drums.

The parade will start at the corner of Guelph Line and Prospect Street and make its way downtown along New Street.

The parade will then move north on Brant Street and finish at Caroline Street.

Children are encouraged to bring letters for Santa that will be collected by letter carriers from Canada Post along the parade route.

Spectators are welcome to bring non-perishable food donations, which will be accepted by the Burlington Teen Tour Band boosters and the Gift of Giving Back.

Spectators can also help choose the People’s Choice Award for the best parade float. Voting will begin online after the parade at All entries will be entered in to a draw for a chance to win a prize.

In addition, the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club will be collecting loonies and toonies to help support the cost of the parade.

“The Santa Claus Parade is a great way to kick-off the festive season and have fun with your family and neighbours,” Chris Glenn, director of Parks and Recreation, said in a recent press release.

“The parade also supports our caring community by providing an easy opportunity to donate to the Gift of Giving Back and Burlington’s food-banks, to take care of those who need a little extra help this winter.”
