Electric car manufacturer Tesla is looking to build Canada’s largest Supercharger station right here in Brampton.

Tesla Motors Canada is proposing a massive 24-stall Supercharger station for its electric vehicles at Trinity Common Mall, with a development application filed to the City showing plans for the Supercharger in the parking lot directly to the west of the Rogers store.

Blueprints show the proposed charging station would have stalls built along the outer edges of the parking area, and the overall number of parking stalls would remain unaffected.

There are a number of other Tesla charging locations across the city, but the Supercharger proposed for Trinity Common Mall would be the largest in Brampton and tie with Hope, B.C. for the largest in Canada.

Tesla says Superchargers can add up to 322 kilometres of driving range off just a 15-minute charge, and stops “are typically short and convenient” as charging “above 80 percent is rarely necessary.”

The site plan has been approved by the City and the Tesla website says the station has a target opening in the second quarter of 2023 with the “timing and location subject to change.”
