Suspect bites police officer during arrest in south Whitby

A Durham Police officer was bitten while placing a woman under arrest Thursday night in Whitby.
Central West officers were called to a Charles Street residence near the town’s harbour for a possible break and enter in progress. Police found the suspect “in an intoxicated state” while banging on the windows of the home.
The suspect resisted officers who were placing her under arrest and during the struggle she bit one officer.
The officer was treated for a minor injury.
Jessica Eyre, 33 of Whitby, is charged with assault police officer, two counts of mischief/damage to property and public intoxication. She was released on an Undertaking.
