A man has been arrested after an altercation between two individuals in Brampton earlier this week, which escalated into a verbal dispute, where the suspect reportedly discharged multiple gunshots at the victim.

On Wednesday (Sept. 13) at approximately 3:10 p.m., Peel Regional Police say the suspect and victim, who are believed to be unknown to each other, became involved in a verbal argument near the area of McLaughlin Rd. and Bovaird Dr., northeast of Chinguacousy Rd.

According to investigators, the argument led to the suspect allegedly shooting the victim several times.

The victim was transported to a trauma centre and is currently in non-life-threatening condition.

Officers identified 23-year-old Damian Solomon as the suspect and had a warrant issued for his arrest.

On Friday (Sept. 15) Solomon voluntarily surrendered to police, where he continues to remain in custody awaiting a bail hearing, authorities say.

Solomon is charged with several offences including, possession of a loaded prohibited restricted firearm without a license and attempted murder using a firearm.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on this case to contact the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau at 905-453-2121 extension 2233.
