Sushi Azuki opens with soft launch on Locke Street

Hamilton’s newest sushi bar is here as Locke Street’s long-awaited Japanese takeout restaurant is open for business.

This past weekend, Sushi Azuki made the most out of the small space that used to be occupied by Forrat’s Chocolate near the corner of Locke and Melbourne St. with a soft launch. Sporadic crowds gathered outside to watch the busy chefs preparing food in the restaurant’s kitchen, which is in plain view from the sidewalk.

Even when COVID-19 passes, it’s hard to imagine Sushi Azuki being able to offer much in the way of a dine-in option with space for just one table. So this is a takeout restaurant in its purest form.

Sushi Azuki’s initial menu is jam-packed with various appetizers, regular and special rolls, sushi or sashimi, poke bowls, and party trays.

You can view the menu here. Only walk-in orders are being accepted.

The hours are listed as 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. However, those hours won’t come into effect until the hard launch.
