Sunshine List led by five execs from Oshawa-based OPG, with CEO earning $1.925 million per year

Ontario Power Generation took the top five spots in the annual Ontario Sunshine List of public sector employees making more than $100,000, with CEO Kenneth Hartwick topping the list with annual renumeration of $1.7925 million.

His Chief Strategy Officer, Dominique Miniere, placed just behind him in second at $1,194, 532.89, while OPG’s Chief Projects Officer Michael Montelli was third with an annual salary of $972,746.99.

Chief Operating Officer Nicole Butcher was third at $894,783.33 and OPG Executive Vice-President Christopher Ginther rounded out the top five sweep withb$889,925.01 in annual salary in 2023.

Ronald Cohn from the Hospital for Sick Children ($851,414.40); Kevin Smith of the Ontario Health Network ($844,992.49) and Phil Vester of Metrolinx ($838,097,41) took the next three places.

Oshawa-based OPG had two more earners in the top 20 and 17 in total making more than $500,000 a year in wages, with most of the rest of the 56 executives (60 if you include taxable benefits) making more than half a million annually in the health care sector.

OPG was the top paying public sector employer in Ontario in 2023, paying out $1.36 billion in salaries to $100K and over staff last year – about $140 million more the City of Toronto in second spot.
