From the city’s 50th birthday bash to Canada Day and the annual PRIDE Festival, there are plenty of summer events in need of performers, vendors and artists coming up in Brampton.

The city is gearing up for another busy summer season of parties, concerts and cultural events in Brampton and is looking for food trucks, artists, performers and vendors to participate in festivals across the city.

An open call has already gone out for Brampton artists and musicians to be part of the city’s 50th-anniversary celebrations with a PIXEL Digital Art Exhibition screen at Garden Square, but even more submissions are needed for this year’s Canada Day events and Pride Festival.

Canada Day

The city will hold its Canada Day celebrations at Chinguacousy Park this year and needs food and retail vendors for the event, including a request for 2,000 cupcakes to be distributed to members of the public during the event

“We ask that applicants propose a Canada Day-themed design and set up concept for the cupcakes, as well as provide a quote inclusive of all products and services required,” the city said of the ambitious baking project.

There is also a request for retail businesses selling “high-quality and unique products that compliment a Canada Day-themed vendor market,” and food vendors “who are environmentally conscious and serve food products representative of our diverse city.”

PRIDE Festival

June is celebrated as PRIDE month in Brampton, and the city will be marking the occasion again this year with an annual PRIDE festival of events.

This year’s festival will run on June 2 in Garden Square, celebrating how far LGBTQ rights have come in Brampton with spots available for artists, performers and community booths. Local artists, DJs, performers and members active in the Brampton performing arts scene are encouraged to apply.

How to apply

Applications are open now for both festivals with deadlines fast approaching.

The city says that it will not accept applications from religious organizations or political parties and campaigns of any type for both events “in order to maintain an atmosphere of respect and neutrality.”
