Stretch of Upper Wentworth in Hamilton closed after cyclist killed in collision

A cyclist was killed Tuesday morning after they were struck by a vehicle on Upper Wentworth.

The incident happened just before 5:30 a.m. above the Lincoln Alexander Parkway bridge, leading to closures in both directions.

Police say the passenger of a 2014 Honda Odyssey called 9-1-1 to report that they were involved in a collision involving a cyclist.

When emergency crews arrived, the cyclist was found without vital signs before being transported to hospital and succumbing to their injuries.

The northbound and southbound lanes above the Linc remain closed.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
